How many iOS devices are sold per day? Back in January there were 366k activations per day so I'd imagine that number has jumped even further ahead of Android.

i buy the fact that professional photographers who do sports, news, fashion photography have limited use for the ipad for anything beyond photo previews. as a comic book artist who has been playing with the ipad for a while now i do use it a lot for sketches. it's not quite there as a "do final inkings and color but it is very useful.
if it goes to doubled screen resolution, which all the rumors says it will, that would be huge help.
if it would use pressure sensitivity another big jump. i saw that a small company has developed a way to do this on a current ipad so it only works with a stylus and not skin. apple, with all it's cash on hand, should buy this company and put this in it's next iOS.
more storage and an sd card slot! jump to 128gb onboard and a card slot.
a better onboard camera. not for pros, but for artist who see something or someone they want to use in a drawing van get a good quick shot of it.
i do believe the "pros" are missing the point here though. photoshop can be very useful to a lot of people right now. band flyers, lost and found, invitations, other things like that. you don't always have access or want to carry the 15 pound camera bag, the 5 pound laptop and the wacom tablet.
i see the ipad as an ideas device. it's super convenient to carry, has a camera so you can take preview photos, like the space where an event will take place, you can write professionally on it, final draft is on the way!! you can sketch, do storyboards, send and receive emails, play games.
bottom line, for everything it does there is another device or group of devices that will always do it better. but there is no one device that does everything it does. and it does a lot of things pretty darn good!!

Not true.. I am the Art Director for a Art department that makes grocery store ads.
Soda is not a common loss leader since it's DSD Pepsi/Coke keep close price controls.
I usually see produce and meat used as loss leaders..
All food margins are bad for grocery stores...they end up making the most money off of their non-food items...which is why you often see a growing number of non-food aisles.
Another point... I expect that TJ MAXX just bought up a bunch of the Refurbished iPads and is taking a $50 loss on each to get people in the stores.

Well they did pay money for it. They are probably losing between $70-$100 on each iPad.

I seriously doubt the figure of "80 iPads total" aquired by TJ Maxx that is speculated in the article, but who knows.
I think he meant 8,000. I did the math myself. All you do is count the number of stores east of colorado or so. I estimate 50%-60% of stores got 10 iPads each...throw in some Marshalls stores...and you get between 5,000 - 10,000 iPads.
(notice how some Marshalls stores are holding off on their iPads until Black Friday...maybe they are apple users who actually figure out they have a prized possession...i can see most managers just saying..what are these ipads..lets just give them away).

The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. Hello. I was wondering if there is an app that will allow me to mirror output from a JB iPad to another iPad. I'm running 4.2.1 and jail broken. I currently use an iPad as a video player for my kids in the car, however, I would like another monitor so there is a display behind both headrests. I was considering a 7-10 inch monitor and running a cable, however with the lower prices for the original iPad this might be a better option. Thanks you.

TJ Maxx isn't selling them at a loss. TJ Maxx however is diluting the perceived value of the iPad. That's something all manufacturers -- not just Apple -- look to protect.
It's exactly why Amazon forces you to put some things in your cart to see the price. Amazon can't advertise a product below Price X, according to their agreement with the manufacturer. If they did, Amazon would be diluting the perceived market value of the product, which would force other resellers to follow suit. This forces the market price lower, and then resellers start putting pressure on the manufacturer to lower THEIR price (to resellers) so the retailers/resellers can maintain healthier margins.
It turns into a race towards the bottom, where a product gets commoditized. Manufacturers try to avoid that at all costs, because they only have a few products where they can sell at a high-margin or premium, for so long, before competition creates a pressure to drive the price down.

I have always used my iphone 4 with the supplied USB cable. Yesterday when I plugged it i I got the yellow triangle symobol & the message
"charging is not supported with this accessory".
I have tried all the USB connections on my PC and still the same message.

These can be found but no replicas seem to be on the open market. The ones that showed up on a Google search were originals and priced $200 and up. Each.

This is rather amusing. People rush out to buy cheesy $30 iPhone Bumpers that cost .10 to make or some other overpriced case and have no issue. Many even buy multiples before they decide on one.
But ATT raises the cost of a early upgrade phone by $50 and people go bonkers.
1) It's an early upgrade. Do you really need to upgrade your phone sooner than every 18 months? If you do, that is your decision as a consumer. You certainly have no God given right to a cheap upgrade though. Stop whining.
2) Inflation is here. Deal with it. Have you been to the grocery store lately? It's the price we pay when the Fed prints money like Chinese knock-offs.
3) Last I checked the government enacts laws regarding the cell phone industry and also regulates the frequencies. There has never been anything stopping either congress or the executive branch or independent commissions from imposing rules to require cellcos to unlock phones after x months of service or to require them to sell unlocked phones.
This... end of discussion.
Everyone wants state of the art high speed networks AND cheap phones and plans.
Ain't gonna happen.
And so how is merging with T-Mobile going to open up choice, provide more competition and benefit customers? Sounds like they are just getting an early start on price gouging here.
Not only should the merger be rejected but AT&T should be broken into about 5 separate companies.

There are no other options for expanding. All the frequencies are sold.

I've probably got the wrong end of the stick as usual, but I use the web access for iDisk that is already there - I haven't downloaded any applications at all for my work Windows laptop. Is this what you meant, or was there something else on top of this?Well kind of, but that's very limited. It doesn't support drag and drop, icon or column views, file previews, searching, .zip archiving and unarchiving, etc. In other words, all the goodies you get in a Finder window (including iDisk Finder windows). Using AJAX technologies, most of that should be possible, as they are doing for the Mail application. And as I said, making folders individually password-protectable (separate passwords, unlike now where it's one for the whole disk) is a priority for me.
